A Postcard From Washington County

What a luxury to have the Down East Sunrise Trail so easily accessible here in Washington County. I’m intent on taking advantage of it several times a week right now, just to soak up the foliage, particularly along the East Machias section of the trail. You can see more photos from one glorious autumn walk here. Photo by Sarah Craighead Dedmon

On Tuesday morning I’ll be knitting outside Porter Memorial Library, soothing myself as extremely capable people operate an excavator near its rubble foundation

Rubble isn’t a word I’m used to associating with strength, but 131 years of straight granite walls later, clearly, I misunderstood.
